Water Mission Earns Charity Navigator’s Four-Star
Rating for 15th Consecutive Year
N. Charleston, S.C.—Dec. 14, 2021 – Water Mission, a nonprofit Christian engineering organization, was awarded Charity Navigator’s four-star rating for the 15th consecutive year. Charity Navigator is America’s largest independent charity evaluator, and the four-star rating is earned by less than 1% of all charities rated by the organization. This top distinction reflects Water Mission’s commitment to accountability and transparency.
“Water Mission’s four-star Charity Navigator rating demonstrates to our supporters our commitment to good governance and financial accountability,” said George C. Greene IV, PE, CEO and president of Water Mission. “It sends an important message to our supporters’ trust that we’re using their gifts wisely and providing maximum impact through our safe water, sanitation, and hygiene solutions for people in developing countries and disaster areas.”
Since 2002, using objective analysis, Charity Navigator has awarded only the most fiscally responsible organizations a four-star rating. In 2011, Charity Navigator added 17 metrics, focused on governance and ethical practices as well as measures of openness, to its ratings methodology. These accountability and transparency metrics, which account for 50% of a charity’s overall rating, reveal which charities operate in accordance with industry best practices and whether they are open with their donors and stakeholders.
“Water Mission’s exceptional four-star rating sets it apart from its peers and demonstrates its trustworthiness to the public,” said Michael Thatcher, CEO and president of Charity Navigator. “Based on its four-star rating, people can trust that their donations are going to a financially responsible and ethical charity when they decide to support Water Mission.”
